I used to have a link to a Chronicle article about a study showing how the preferred communication channel of faculty/staff/admin is opposite of that of students.

Brian - do you see students starting the year strong with usage of email and then it trails off because of the amount of spam and lack of relevancy?

Reminds me the this article Kevin wrote > http://bit.ly/g0PB3Z

This is too true! The students on my campus do not use email at all. I also feel like there is a huge disconnect between the administration & the students regarding this concern. Staff say "students are made aware that email is the official means of communication by the university." But, I'm not completely convinced that students know this.
I've worked hard with my student staff to make their email be important and meaningful- thus, they check it often.

Phenomenal work, Meg!
I love the post and I am so proud of you for the work you put in with Red Rover. Such a great product, with such great people behind the scenes. I think the coolest part that no one mentioned is that you did this on your vacation!
I know when I was in 7th grade I would have run screaming from the idea of waking up extra early to go do work somewhere with people I didn't know, but you had the drive and the courage to take the plunge and for that you get a big virtual High-5 from me.

Meaghan - so glad you liked your time with Red Rover! It sounds like you really spent some time thinking about the importance of connecting folks within a community around their common interests. Great post!
